Silver care

How to care for your sterling silver jewelry

To keep your silver jewelry bright and shiny, store in the air-tight bag with the anti-tarnish paper. Always keep the bag closed to protect the anti-tarnish paper from sulphur in the air that causes tarnish.

Clean your sterling silver jewelry with ammonia
Soak your sterling silver jewelry in a little ammonia in a glass bowl, then rinse in clean water and air dry on a soft towel. This is not for soft stones like opals, or for bezel-set stones.

For tarnished silver, use washing soda
Line a plastic container with aluminum foil.
Add 2 tablespoons Arm & Hammer washing soda and hot water.
Soak your silver pieces for about 10 minutes.
Rinse in clean water and air dry on a soft towel.
This method is great for chains and jewelry without stones.

Never use toothpaste or abrasive commercial cleaners on your silver jewelry, as these can pit silver.
